This policy explains what information Edit Any Text (“we”, “us”) collects when you use editanytext.com (the “Site”), and how it is used.
1. Your files stay on your device
The PDFs and images you open in the editor are read, edited and saved entirely inside your web browser. They are not uploaded to our servers or to any third party, and we cannot see, store or recover them. When you close the page, they are gone from the Site.
To run the editor, your browser downloads program code, fonts and text-recognition language data from content delivery networks (such as jsDelivr and Google Fonts). These providers receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser type, as with any website resource, but never your files or their contents.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used — for example which pages are visited and whether a file was opened or downloaded (never the file itself, its name or its content). Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are disabled by default until consent is given. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
3. Advertising
The Site is free and supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
4. Cookies and local storage
- Preferences: your light/dark theme choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — see section 2.
- Advertising cookies (Google and its partners) — see section 3.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The editor works without cookies.
5. Email
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Because we don’t receive your files and don’t run user accounts, we hold very little personal data; requests about analytics or advertising data can also be made directly to Google. To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].
7. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it was last changed.
